The Northern Europe has always been a destination to consider for those looking to start certain types of university studies. The education offered in these countries is very different from what we find in many other countries and, if we have the opportunity, it’s always an experience worth considering to immerse ourselves in a new perspective.

If you're thinking about moving to this country to enjoy this new experience, the first thing you should keep in mind is that it is essential to have mobile internet from the moment you set foot on the ground. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be able to get in touch with the specific study center, the university, or any other tasks you need to handle upon arrival. With Blink eSIM, you can get a eSIM with a flat rate of €3.50 per day with unlimited data and at maximum speed.

Is a visa required to study in Finland?

Whenever we visit a foreign country, one of the most common questions is whether a visa is required to study in that country. In the case of Finland, if you are coming from Spain, you do not need to apply for any specific visa if you are going for tourism.

However, if you are going to take a course, less than 90 days, you will need a short-stay visa, known as Type C. For studies lasting longer, you will need a residence permit, which is Type D. Your study center can assist you with the application process.

Can you validate your current degree to pursue other studies there?

Maybe you don't want to study a full course from scratch and you want to take advantage of another degree you have to use it during the study program and directly access higher education.

If this is your situation, don't worry. It is possible that you can validate your current degree; however, it is not a quick and simple process. The process may take several weeks or even months. Therefore, we recommend that you contact them as soon as possible to start the entire process. The responsible organization is the Finnish National Agency for Education.

Is it expensive to study in Finland?

The price-related aspect is another one that always generates the most interest for obvious reasons. In the case of Finland, tuition at a university can range from a figure close to 10,000€. but it can be higher depending on the city we choose in the end.

In addition, there is the cost of living in the country, which could amount to an additional thousand euros per month, depending on the student's lifestyle.

Can you study online?

Maybe you're interested in studying at a university from the country, but you're considering studying remotely. In this case, what you should do is contact the university to find out what options each of the different universities or educational institutions offer.
In many cases, you can indeed study online. However, you will need to go to Finland regularly to complete internships or attend certain mandatory in-person sessions. Therefore, it will depend on each student's personal situation to assess whether it is actually a good idea or not.
